The Square Donut, a story of love, death and donuts.

Notes from the author, Lauren Crane
This novel began taking root in 1996 as I was beginning by own coming out journey. It took me 20 years to make the move from my realization as a teen (Oh, I love women.) to actually claiming who I was and what I wanted. That's just the way it was for me way back when. Shortly after I began writing, I did find my first love who will forever remain in my heart. Although not autobiographical, I set this novel back in time, 1977, during the years I might have embraced my truth. The town is a fictitious place, but I it put on the shore of the Lake Erie. I spent my very early years running around in the woods by that lake and the joy of it is reflected in the pages of this book. Ah, but all the rest is wonderfully fun fiction about a young woman discovering her true self, her family and the richness of life, as she encounters her first love. I hope you enjoy the sweet romance of Toby Renfrew and her Carolina in The Square Donut.
